All of the investigators we utilize have some formal criminal justice training and education. Some of the training and education has come from P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standard Training) and some from accredited colleges and universities. Jeff Berns, our Director of Operations, is a native of northern California and the Sacramento Valley and has been centrally located here for more than 30 years. Fifteen of the last 30 years have been spent in the criminal justice and investigative career fields conducting various types of investigation. Because our Director has been local to California and the greater Sacramento area you can depend on him to know the geographical area and legal environment. RPI has built a vast network of contacts both locally and nationally that range from local law enforcement officers to include both federal and state agencies, prosecuting and defense attorneys (both civil and criminal), private investigators, insurance professionals as well as many local and state political officials.

Our Director of Operations has a criminal justice degree with a concentration and focus on investigation and management. A few of the advanced courses he has completed are advanced crime scene investigation relating to trace evidence, cellular phone fraud training with the Secret Service and Airtouch Cellular, bomb recognition and detection with Sacramento county, insurance investigation with two different insurance companies, insurance adjusting, skip-tracing and subject/asset location. Director Jeff Berns can assemble a team of investigators that can accomplish just about any goal you set before him.

Our Director is approved to conduct Investigations for the Sacramento County Conflict Criminal Defender (CCD) Program. He is a former Investigator for Sacramento County and has worked on multiple major crimes cases, including hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases while working for the Sacramento County District Attorney and the Public Defender's offices in Sacramento, California. Our Director has worked as a skip-tracer for three nationally known private investigative groups and as a multi-line Field Claims Adjuster with two nationally known insurance companies. Active member of CALI (California Association of Licensed Investigators, D.I.A. (Defense Investigators Association).
