The National Defender Investigator Association (NDIA) is the only national organization to represent a constituency dedicated solely to the investigative arm of indigent defense. The NDIA has maintained its leadership role largely through a dedicated membership and through volunteer efforts.The NDIA has also established itself as one of the premier national training programs in its conduct of its National and Regional training seminars. Some of the foremost authorities in the criminal defense and forensic science fields have taught and lectured for these training vehicles. The Sacramento County Alliance of Law Enforcement (SCALE) is the successor Organization to The Organization of Sacramento Sheriff Deputies. The Organization was incorporated in November 1993, and in April 1994 won elections for two Bargaining Units in the County of Sacramento. SCALE is the recognized Employee Organization representing Criminalists, Criminal Investigators, Process Servers, Investigative Assistants, Child Support Officers, Park Rangers, Deputy Coroners and Forensic Lab Technicians in the County of Sacramento. As the exclusive bargaining agent for those classifications as well as Supervising Criminalist, Supervising Child Support Officer, and Supervising Identification Technicians, SCALE is responsible for negotiating contracts and processing work place disputes on behalf of its members.

15   Link   USAPI - United States Association of Private Investigators
USAPI is quite different from other organizations in that it will be an inclusive rather than exclusive group. The first difference that you will see is that membership is open to all "professional investigators." Any individual who is currently employed in the capacity of a professional investigator including any current active duty law enforcement whether or not you are titled as an Investigator, Federal Agent, DA Investigator, Public Defender investigator or licensed Private Investigator. If you are a non-sworn employee for a law enforcement agency or an employee of a licensed Private Investigator you must be an employee for a period of no less than one year, and least 21 years of age. Law Enforcement, PI's, Insurance, Child Welfare, Military, etc., are all welcome. We even have a Student Category for the individual is at school and expresses an interest in learning more about the investigative profession.
